I don't recall how I discovered this book, but it was one of my daughter's favorites! The off-beat idea and wonderful witty illustrations tickled both our funny bones, and it never prompted any questions or bad dreams. There was something almost Monty Pythonesque about the wild concept married to Elsie's normalcy, which makes me think that like adults, kids appreciate a good, trippy book now and then.
