I was always in and out of Peter H. Reynolds’s store when I was a kid, but back then — half a century ago! — it was a five-and-dime store situated down the street from St. Mary’s, across the way from the movie theater, and around the corner from Dunkin’s, thus pretty much at the center of the Dedham kids’ universe. But ten years ago Peter and his twin brother Paul turned that storefront into The Blue Bunny, a children’s book and toy shop. Shades of John Newbery! I was pleased to go home again to visit The Blue Bunny (named for the signature motif of Dedham Pottery) and talk to Peter about his new book Happy Dreamer, the author-illustrator’s first book with Scholastic.
