Location of 56 Roland Street (Washington Crossing), Boston:
56 Roland Street is just off Cambridge Street (which becomes Washington Street at the Charlestown/Somerville line). It is about 1 mile north of downtown Boston and a few blocks west of I-93, Sullivan Square, and the Schraffts Center tower.
Taking the MBTA
The Horn Book offices are a 5-10 minute walk from Sullivan Square station on the Orange Line. When you exit the station, turn right (south) and walk to Cambridge St. (there are no signs that say this is Cambridge St.)
Turn right onto Cambridge St., walking under the highway and over the train tracks.
After about a block and a half, you will come to an intersection with a stoplight and a Dunkin Donuts. Turn left at the light and go down Stark St.
You will immediately be able to see “56 ROLAND ST” written on the side of a building in Washington Crossing. The entrance facing you is the North Lobby, but the Horn Book is in the South Lobby. Do a little dogleg (right then left) at the end of Stark St. and go down the drive between 56 Roland and 52 Roland. At the back of the building you will find the South Lobby. The Horn Book is on the second floor.
Driving
From North of Boston (I-93)
Take I-93 South to Exit 28 (Sullivan Square Exit) Bear left following the sign to Sullivan Square, then after 1/8 mile bear right (the MBTA Orange Line station at Sullivan Square will be on the right). At the light, take a right onto Cambridge Street (it becomes Washington Street further West). At the next light take a left onto Stark Street and a right onto Roland Street. The building is on the left. Park in any lot (A-D) but do not park in a space designated for another company. The Horn Book is on the second floor above the south lobby (back end of building).
From South of Boston
Take I-93 North to the Sullivan Square exit. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto Cambridge St. (which becomes Washington St. further west). Turn left at the next light (across from Dunkin Donuts) onto Stark St. Turn right onto Roland St. The building is on the left. Park in any lot (A-D) but do not park in a space designated for another company. The Horn Book is on the second floor above the south lobby (back end of building).
From West of Boston (Storrow Drive)
Take Storrow Drive east to the traffic light (near the Museum of Science) and get in the farthest left lane. Go 3/4 of the way around the traffic circle and go right over the bridge (the Museum of Science is on the left). At the next light, take a right and proceed over the Prison Point Bridge. At the set of lights, take a left (Rutherford Ave./Rt. 99). About 1/4 mile along Rutherford Ave., bear right at the fork and immediately bear right again. You are at the Sullivan Square traffic circle, so proceed 3/4 of the way around the circle and at the light go straight onto Cambridge St./Washington St. (the MBTA Orange Line Train Station will be on the right). At the next light, go left onto Stark Street and take the first right onto Roland St. The building is on the left. Park in any lot (A-D) but do not park in a space designated for another company. The Horn Book is on the second floor above the south lobby (back end of building).
Or
Take Storrow Drive east to the traffic light (near the Museum of Science) and get in the farthest left lane. Go 3/4 of the way around the traffic circle and go right over the bridge onto Msgr. O’Brien Highway (the Museum of Science is on the left). Go straight through the next light and follow Msgr. O’Brien Highway (Rt. 28) for a mile or so (bear right to stay on Rt. 28). At Washington St., take a right towards Sullivan Square. Proceed about 1/2 mile and go past the Holiday Inn (which will be on the right). At the light, take a right onto Stark Street and the first right onto Roland St. The building is on the left. Park in any lot (A-D) but do not park in a space designated for another company. The Horn Book is on the second floor above the south lobby (back end of building).
