Because so many of the books on the list are about boys and signal boys as part of their implied audience. As a genre, children's literature in general has an implied audience of girls, so I feel like it's worth pointing out when books acknowledge that boys read, too.
I've been the editor in chief of The Horn Book, Inc, since 1996; previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. Received my M.A. in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a B.A. from Pitzer College in 1978.

Feel compelled to ask the obvious question: why did you tag this one with "boys reading"?
