Wilder Award 2009

Ashley Bryan

Ashley Bryan is the winner of the 2009 Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, which honors an author or illustrator whose books have made a significant and lasting contribution to children’s literature. Ashley Bryan’s award-winning works include Dancing Granny, Beat the Story-Drum, Pum-Pum, and Beautiful Blackbird, which won the 2004 Coretta Scott King Book Award. Bryan has also received two other Coretta Scott King Book Awards, six Coretta Scott King honors, the 1990 Arbuthnot Award, the 1993 Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award, the 2006 Hans Christian Andersen United States Nomination for illustration, and the Virginia Hamilton Literary Award.
