  1. This is great, but be sure to include the voice of school librarians. Where do teachers learn about great books for their classrooms? Their school librarian! School librarians know tons and their mission is to connect and education their teachers on best books and how to use them effectively in their classrooms. Also, be sure to add regularly the voice of the public librarian, especially those who do work collaboratively with their school librarians or teachers. Educating children to love reading and books is a community affiar and can’t be done soley by the classroom teacher. If you do this, your blog will have more relevancy to a wider audience.

    Louise –
Thanks so much for the suggestion. You are absolutely right: librarians are a teacher’s best resource when it comes to using trade books. The plan for now is to use teacher bloggers, but I hope the love of libraries and librarians will be a recurring theme in their posts. Your suggestion makes me realize that we should be sure to have some guest posts from librarians as well. I also hope we’ll get plenty of great comments from librarians.

  3. I am keeping my fingers crossed that some ominous weather forecasts will not achieve fruition and cancel this great event. My wife and I are coming up from the NYC area, and I am already preparing to be stranded somewhere on the highway in southern Connecticut. Ha!

Did we miss a link, Sam? I’m not sure what the event is.

  5. Ah Sorry about that Lolly. I am referring to Thursday’s book discussion at Simms College, which will be moderated by Roger. I really want to go, and I intend to defy the elements, but I just want to make sure it won’t be cancelled.
