Karen Blumenthal on Hillary Rodham Clinton

blumenthal_hillaryIn our March/April 2016 issue, the Horn Book Magazine editors talked with Karen Blumenthal about the challenges of writing a biography about a political figure whose story is rapidly changing. Read the full review of Hillary Rodham Clinton: A Woman Living History.

The Horn Book: Things can change so quickly in politics. How did you know when to finish your story?

Karen Blumenthal: It was painful! The book had to take her through 2015, and I ultimately had to trust my gut. As the book deadline arrived, there were still many unknowns. How serious was the email investigation? Was there more to learn about Benghazi? My stomach was in knots for three months in fear that a new scandal might flare up before publication.
