The Horn Book’s day off

After a whirlwind few weeks during which both publications’ closing dates loomed and we hosted the Boston Globe–Horn Book Awards ceremony/Horn Book at Simmons colloquium weekend (which was amazing and inspiring and motivating, but not especially relaxing), we needed a break.

So on Friday we played hooky and headed to Cape Ann for a day of apple-picking, lunch at Martha’s favorite clam shack, Crane Beach, and — most importantly — ice cream.
