Calling All Nominations!

Hello, everyone! We now pause our coverage of the year's Caldecott-eligible books to ask readers to weigh in with their favorites.

This year, rather than doing this in two stages as before, you are being asked to name up to seven titles all at once. On the Real Committee, this is a spread-out, three-part process, but the end result is that each committee member nominates seven books in total before they meet in January to decide on Medal and Honor winners. (For a detailed explanation of the Real process, as the committee moves from offering suggestions to submitting official nominations, please see the Caldecott manual. It's always best to consult the manual!)

So, without further ado — leave the titles of up to seven Caldecott-eligible 2022 books in the comments. I'll be using this input from readers to assemble the ballot we will all be (mock) voting on in mid-January. (Keep in mind that Calling Caldecott still has about a month to go, with coverage of some of your favorite books perhaps still to come.)

I look forward to seeing your choices.
