National Hispanic Heritage Latinx Heritage Month 2021

National Hispanic Heritage Latinx Heritage Month is a time for "paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society." It runs from September 15-October 15.

Earlier this year, we had the great pleasure of collaborating with consulting editor Sujei Lugo, members of REFORMA, and nearly forty contributors to produce our May/June 2021 Horn Book Magazine: Special Issue: The Pura Belpré Award at 25. Highlights include: Sujei's editorial, "R(e)Claiming Our Literature"; an interview with Pura's great-nieces by Anika Aldamuy Denise; "Pura Belpré Award by the Numbers"; "On the Futurity of the Pura Belpré Award"; and many more. Read it all here; and watch HBTV episodes 1 and 2 with Meg Medina and award co-founder Sandra Ríos Balderrama and with ALSC president and writer Lucía M. González.

Here are many more interviews, recommended books, and articles from the Horn Book archives to help you celebrate "the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America."
