Urban legend alert

If one more person sends me that list of books Sarah Palin tried to ban from the library I'm gonna vote for Nader.

It's because Horn Book arrived in all our mailboxes today, and then when we went back to our computers, there was this list of banned books, so of course everyone thought you should know about it.
Please don't vote for Nader.
time to stop hyperventilating over this election,

Any comment in light of ABC's story?

Evidently there was a specific book that Palin's Church wanted removed from the library. The librarian can neither confirm nor deny that it was mentioned, but a reporter with an excellent memory for conversations that happened more than ten years ago, he remembers it was.

Still no smoking gun, I think. But guilt by association for those who accept it as evidence.

Yeah, Go Ask Alice. How retro! And another book by a minister from a competing church. I feel like we're being suckered into distraction.

Damn it! I hate it when I make mistakes. The church wanted the book out of a bookstore, not the library.

haha, I think the very best part of this post is its labels. The notion that any blog could have multiple posts related to JUST ONE of those categories is hilarious. The idea that, in addition to that, it could have one post that matched them ALL simply makes my day.

Who alphabetted that list? It sure wasn't a librarian!

I agree about being suckered into distraction.
Google Joe Biden and Sarah Palin: about 4 million hits for Biden, about 18 million for Palin. We've wasted 2 weeks on her, and really, there's very little "there" there.

ALA posted a helpful round-up:

I'm kind of agreeing about the distraction thing, though. While some real diehards may think there's nothing worse than book censorship, I think Palin believes in a lot of things that are worse than book censorship.

I have everyone of the books on "the list" on my bookshelf! I guess they will be knockin' at my door next!

Oh, Laurie censorship is where they start and then they continue on down their list!

I see that PW's Morning Report is falsely stating that Palin banned Daddy's Roommate.
