Winning!

photos.medleyphoto.12922130If John Lewis (pictured above at the march in Atlanta on Saturday) hasn't made enough history, he is also the first person to win four awards in one day from the ALA: Lewis's book March: Book Three, written with Andrew Aydin and illustrated by Nate Powell, this morning won the Coretta Scott King Award, the Sibert Award, the Printz Award, and the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction. Congratulations, Congressman Lewis!

Elissa and Katie are busy posting the Horn Book reviews of all the winners and honors and related content; Martha (who is on the CSK committee) will be by tomorrow to tell you all about the press conference.

I rejoice in this celebration of the many achievements of Rep. John Lewis--an indefatigable fighter for human dignity--a man of action, as well as words. Lewis' books should be printed in a larger trim size to make room for all the medals!
