Results from our first round of nominations!
We asked readers to give us four titles that they thought were worthy of the Caldecott Award. Thank you to everyone who submitted comments.
We will have one more round of nominations in December.
Here’s what the November results showed:
Twenty-three titles were nominated.
Ten titles have more than one nomination. The leading title — nominated seven times — is Cat Nap written and illustrated by Caldecott Honor–recipient Brian Lies.
Fireworks received six nominations and Our Lake received five; How Sweet the Sound, A Gift of Dust, Broken, and Anything received three nominations each. Three titles were each nominated two times.
Thirteen titles — more than half — have a single nomination.
The top three nominees made a strong showing, but the real Committee must consider all titles — even those that receive one nomination, so everything is still in play.
Here's the breakdown of this round of nominations. Stay tuned (and contribute!) in December when we make a final call for three nominations.
