From the Editor September 2023

Here in New England it’s just about fall (starts this Saturday), and last weekend we celebrated Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The start of Rosh Hashanah also coincided with the start of National Hispanic Heritage Latine/x Heritage Month (September 15–October 15), with this month’s issue of Notes dedicated to the variety of recent books — for all ages — that center Latine/x experiences. See also the professional resource Islas lectoras: bibliografía crítica de literatura infantil puertorriqueña (2000-2020), cowritten by Dr. Sujei Lugo, guest editor/instigator of our May/June 2021 Horn Book Magazine: Special Issue: The Pura Belpré Award at 25. Sujei runs a weekly bilingual storytime and is hosting a bilingual drag storytime at her library on October 7 — check it out!
