>Books into movies -- never a good idea, I think. I recently read an article about the upcoming Mary Poppins stage musical, and it said when P.L. Travers attended the opening of the Disney version, she ended up in tears.

Glitter and Photoshopping is bad enough. What kills me is what I must endure in the future: any DVD I get for my kid is going to have the trailer for this damn movie on it.

>Not to mention that we're going to be hit with millions of work-for-hire books based on the movie and loosely based on the original text. All of which are unnecessary, since the boss book is right there! Not to mention that the boss book has much better writing.
People, I'm in turmoil right now. Turmoil! And a little bit of angst.

I'm just afraid the movie's going to turn out to be another debacle like Stuart Little and Trumpet. Even just watching the trailers, I'm going, "That wasn't in the book. That wasn't in the book! That totally was *not* in the book."
Sorry, I'm kind of a fan of his.
