Monica Edinger: I’m really curious about the Secret Files. Were they part of the design of the book from the start?

Anne Nesbet: The Secret Files were there from the very first draft! East Germany itself was a place full of both secrets and files, and I knew I wanted to expose young readers to the thrills of history as well as of fiction. I hope the structure of Cloud and Wallfish will spark discussions about the tricky border between fact and story.
