From the Editor - May 2024

I’m not one to pick favorites, but May (Mother’s Day! my birthday!) may be my favorite month. As may be the new May/June Horn Book Magazine: Special Issue: Our Centennial, with foldout cover by April Harrison from Go Forth and Tell, written by Breanna J. McDaniel. The Horn Book’s May/June covers are perennial favorites, often illustrating special themed issues, and our #HBCoverMadness May/June vote could be the toughest one yet. It’s down to Kadir Nelson’s gorgeous “The CSK Book Awards at 50” cover versus Grace Lin’s cozy and delightful “The Newbery Centennial” edition. Head over to Calling Caldecott to vote. And for an actual, real-life thrill: look which Cover Madness winner just came “out of the box” and back home to the Horn Book!
