Ashley Bryan at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum

The deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA, is running its New England Biennial exhibition through March 26, 2017. The exhibit features sixteen New England-based fine artists — including children's lit's own Ashley Bryan.

On display in the gallery space are several of Bryan's picture-book collages, including several from All Things Bright and Beautiful, and a selection of puppets, made from found materials, that can be seen in Ashley Bryan's Puppets: Making Something from Everything. Outside the exhibit area, you can read some of Bryan's picture books — then go back over and see the real thing. It's a thrill for any fan, child and grownup alike.

Also for the kids (or is it?), there's a "Process Gallery" area full of art materials — in this case, textiles, ornaments, feathers, etc. — where children can create their own works inspired by the exhibit.

The museum offers "Tips for Families" who are visiting. The outdoor Sculpture Park is a child-friendly dream, and a perfect place for a picnic. The indoor part, where the exhibit is housed, isn't as kid-friendly, but it's still a great place to introduce children to the wonders of art.
