SLJ has posted a report of Martha and my presentation in Ohio last week of what makes  for a good preschool book. Look for Kevin Henkes' excellent speech from that event on our site on Monday.

He was previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. He received his MA in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a BA from Pitzer College in 1978.

Are my eyes playing tricks, or Is Martha really wearing a Billy Miller baseball cap? In an ideal world I would be able to buy one of those at the cap stand at my local shopping mall...

Yes, Sam, I am indeed wearing my treasured Year of Billy Miller cap! The ceiling lights in the room where the conference was held hit my eyes at the exact angle that tends to give me an instant migraine. So I wore my hat, proudly and (since Kevin was there) aptly. And Sam, you can borrow it anytime...
