Boston's New Mayor

...and in local news, Boston voters have elected Michelle Wu to be the first woman, first woman of color, first person of color, first Asian American, and first mother (!) to be elected as mayor. Current acting mayor Kim Janey -- the first woman, first woman of color, first person of color, and first Black mayor in the city's history (also a mom!) -- had assumed the role in March 2021 following Marty Walsh's appointment as Secretary of Labor.

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Wu! Find many recent books, articles, interviews, and more about Asian Americans -- including East Asian intergenerational picture books + AAPI stories and voices. For more on women in politics, visit Horn Book Guide/Reviews Database: Subject: Women--Politicians
