Earth Day 2023: Invest in Our Planet

Tomorrow, April 22, is Earth Day, with the theme being "Invest in Our Planet," a continuation of last year's campaign. See the following book recommendations, articles, and links for recent children's books related to the appreciation and preservation of our planet:

And look for the forthcoming review of The Day the River Caught Fire: How the Cuyahoga River Exploded and Ignited the Earth Day Movement (Wiseman/Simon) by Barry Wittenstein, illustrated by Jessie Hartland, in the May/June 2023 Horn Book Magazine Special Issue: Diverse Books: Past, Present, and Future. As our reviewer noted, "While young readers may take for granted the concept of environmentalism, the book does an excellent job depicting the nascent moments of the movement that led to the first Earth Day celebration, the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency, and legislation such as the Clean Water Act." We all must "Invest in Our Planet" because "a green future is a prosperous future." What will you do to help? How will you be honoring the occasion? Share your plans with us in the comments below!
