>I spent two hours this afternoon undergoing a root canal with only novocaine as my friend. And an audiobook, Sophie Kinsella's
Confessions of a Shopoholic, really very dopey but just the thing for the circumstances. I had wondered if I would be able to concentrate enough amidst the drilling and tugging and
ER-like passing of pointy instruments between the dentist and his assistant, but it was eerily easy: what was actually going on in my life during that time so was so completely alienating and out of my hands that I escaped quite thoroughly into the story. You should try it.

>I can't believe I never thought of that! I'm going for the second half of (get this) re-doing an old root canal (not enough to get it done once) next week and will take my audiobook. Thanks!Jeanette Larson

>Ok, I reread my old paperback copy of Is That You, Miss Blue? during a colonoscopy yesterday. I defy anyone to top that. And the book is already very funny, but with the drugs I was on it was HILARIOUS.Posted : May 04, 2007 12:26

>Well Mr. Selznick, now we know why. Because someone might need to listen to the book during a trip to the dentist.Roger, I'm surprised at your audiobook choice - and I think I like you just a little bit more now. I hate the dentist, and I will try this audiobook thing next time.
