Greater Roxbury Book Fair 2025

Last Saturday I spent the morning at the third annual Greater Roxbury Book Fair: "Springing from the Roxbury community's deep connections to books and reading, the fair features local and aspiring authors — and showcases the creativity of the residents of Greater Roxbury."

Kicking off the storytime sessions at the library was Hannah Moushabeck reading her 2023 picture book debut Homeland: My Father Dreams of Palestine, winner of The New England Book Award and The Arab American Book Award. Up next was Jannie Ho, with The Lost Mitten, an I Like to Read: Comics! book that was an ALA Best Graphic Novels for Children Reading List Selection.

The full day's line-up, for both adults and children, is archived here, including panels, workshops and programs, author signings (facilitated by our friends at Frugal Books), and a bustling open-air market right outside the library. Thanks to Akunna Eneh for again sharing her library space, to Gina Gagliano for inviting us to the fair, and to everyone involved in this vibrant community-wide books-and-reading celebration

L to R: Gina Gagliano, Hannah Moushabeck, Jannie Ho, and Sheila Burke.
