We kick things off with Barbara Bader's retrospective of "Five Gay Picture-Book Prodigies and the Difference They've Made" (from the March/April 2015 Horn Book Magazine). Maurice Sendak, Arnold Lobel, James Marshall, Remy Charlip, and Tomie dePaola "were gay, talented, and gifted also with insight," she writes.Bonus: Roger Sutton's editorial from the same issue, "The Difference That Made Them;" over at The New Yorker, Colin Stokes's "Frog and Toad: An Amphibious Celebration of Same-Sex Love;" and Bert Clere's "Frog and Toad and the Self" at The Atlantic.
