The Horn Book: Things can change so quickly in politics. How did you know when to finish your story?

Karen Blumenthal: It was painful! The book had to take her through 2015, and I ultimately had to trust my gut. As the book deadline arrived, there were still many unknowns. How serious was the email investigation? Was there more to learn about Benghazi? My stomach was in knots for three months in fear that a new scandal might flare up before publication.
