We'd been wondering why a four-year-old Lolly's Classroom blog post was generating so many new comments. Then we realized that Netflix had just released a new animated series based on the Llama Llama books by the late Anna Dewdney (you can read her heartfelt and very Family Reading-appropriate keynote speech from The Horn Book's Fostering Lifelong Learners conference at the Cambridge, MA, Public Library in 2013).

And if you Google "llama llama dad" — which it seems many people have! — the first hit you'll find is that four-year-old blog post, "Llama Llama Single Mama" by Teddy Kokoros.

This weekend is Mother's Day, and we know that Llama Llama's mama is doing the best that she can. We salute you, Mama Llama, and all the other mamas of all species and all identities who observe the holiday (while keeping in mind that Mother's Day is not all rainbows and light for many people).
