I hope you are all healthy and managing at home, with — perhaps? — more time to read what you really want to. Even when your boss calls you into a Zoom meeting: just say your camera’s broken and keep those pages turning. A shoutout, too, to the libraries and bookstores that are keeping us all reading: you do the Lord’s work.

All the Horn Bookers are also working hard to get the May/June special issue out to you, both in the mail and electronically. For the duration of our social distancing we are providing free access to the website, Guide/Reviews Database, and the digital edition of the Horn Book Magazine’s current and past issues going back to 2016. The theme of our upcoming issue is “Breaking the Rules,” yet another irony giving us a whack as the world hunkers down. All of those rules about handwashing, mask-wearing, and sheltering-in-place? Don’t break those.
