But I just listened to Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and Other Concerns). It was all very agreeably bubbly, but don't go looking for dirt on The Office--the one chapter devoted to the show is perfunctory, as if Kalin is satisfying a contractual obligation. What I loved most about the book was where she discussed her childhood and adolescence, growing up in suburban Boston, finding out that BFFs aren't necessarily forever (or even until tenth grade), the various public and private humiliations of youth. I wouldn't normally want to encourage celebrities to go the writing-for-kids route, but I'd like to see a YA novel from this one. In a story about learning to ride a bike at the advanced age of twelve, she even references Robert Cormier.

One other thing--Kaling says she is driven crazy by the amount of time guys take to put their shoes on. But having recently spent a week with two female friends, I've been wondering why the ladies seem to take so long. Which is it?
