Roger Sutton, Caren Stelson, and Selina Alko at Temple Sinai

Last weekend, Roger Sutton had a fantastic conversation with Caren Stelson and Selina Alko, author and illustrator, respectively, of Stars of the Night: The Courageous Children of the Czech Kindertransport, at Temple Sinai in Brookline (Roger's Richard's synagogue). The three had spoken in 2023 as part of Talks with Roger, and they were able to expand that discussion along with touching on various aspects of Caren's and Selina's artistic processes.

Hearing the story read aloud by its creators -- and watching the video of Nicholas Winton and the people he saved -- was a powerful collective experience. There were many tears...sweetened by hamentaschen and chocolate chip cookies provided by Richard. Thanks to all for a warm, thought-provoking, and very memorable conversation and event. And look for Selina and Caren in the upcoming May/June Horn Book Magazine, which goes to press next week.
