Arna Bontemps Letter to Bertha E. Mahony (February 26, 1938)

Arna Bontemps letter

Chicago, Illinois

26 February ’38

Miss Bertha E. Mahony
The Horn Book
Boston

Dear Miss Mahony:

Thanks very much for your pleasant note.

I'll be glad to write something for The Horn Book. So if you will send the copies you mentioned of back issues, I'll do my best to suggest something suitable. Some ideas come immediately to mind, but perhaps I had better let them grow till I have given some attention to the magazines.

Not that I'm a total stranger to the Horn Book, of course. Without picturing myself in the role of contributer[sic], I have once or twice had the pleasure of going through a copy.

I was elated to learn that you liked my SAD FACED BOY.

Sincerely yours,

[signed: Arna Bontemps]
