Like many people, I’ve been captivated by the recent New York Times article that takes a deep dive into the cookies that Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster devours. (“Nom Nom Nom. What’s the Deal with Cookie Monster’s Cookies?”) What are those cookies made of? How do they crumble? Are they real? Who makes them? The article takes us behind the scenes to discover what that beloved blue monster frantically devours when Cookie gets his Nom, Nom, Noms on. 

Cookie’s “Nom Nom Noms” also got me thinking about Calling Caldecott, and our Noms. (Talk about burying the lead, Julie! Bear with me.) It's time for us to nom-nom-nominate three more titles for Caldecott consideration.

Last month, we published a post ("Choose Four") where we asked you for the titles of four books that you would nominate for the Caldecott. The results were wide ranging; check it out here if you need a refresher ("November Nominations Results"). While the real committee has three rounds of nominations, for the sake of brevity, we have condensed ours to two rounds, and we’re back for that second round, where we now ask you to nominate three titles.

Calling Caldecott will hold its own mock vote, which will open on January 11. But here’s the catch (and how I hope to lure some of you who haven’t commented in to making a comment). A  book must be nominated in order for it to be considered for an Award. Below is our list of November nominations. If you contributed to the November nominations, we would love for you to contribute again by nominating three books that are different from the four titles you nominated last month. If you did not contribute to the November nomination round, no problem. Here at Calling Caldecott, we can bend the rules a little, and allow you to step in, mid-way and nominate three titles for consideration. 

If you don’t see a title on this list that you think should be on the eventual mock ballot, please add contribute a comment by adding that title as your nomination. Now is the time to represent! 

We will accept your nominations here in the website comment section, but can also take nominations on social media. Nominations of three titles are due by Monday, December 11th, and will be announced later in the week.
