Black History Month 2023

In commemoration of Black History Month, we'll be featuring articles, speeches, interviews, and reviews from The Horn Book's past year that are by and/or about African American authors, illustrators, and luminaries in the field — one a weekday through the month of February.

Monday's ALA Youth Media Awards announcement saw a CSK Illustrator win for Frank Morrison for Standing in the Need of Prayer: A Modern Retelling of the Classic Spiritual written by Carole Boston Weatherford, which was also a Horn Book Fanfare 2022 title, so we're starting off the month with Frank's five questions interview about the book with Roger Sutton from the November/December 2022 Horn Book Magazine Publishers' Previews.
